Quick report
Found 2" of new light powder on all elevations from the car to the 6,200', but the snow beneath the powder varied dramatically. Icy with refrozen chunks from day-old ski tracks down low, becoming a 1.5' thick warm/wet weird mess of variably windblown snow and crusts sitting on top of older dry snow. This snow skied ok but was catchy. And above 6k' the top 2' of snow was more powdery but still had contained several different soft crusts. Skied great though. Didn't dig a pit, partially because there was so much spatial and elevational variation it didn't feel like a single pit would say much. Saw no evidence of recent slides but we kept things conservative because we couldn't tell where windslabs might be hiding beneath last night's powder. And have no idea what persistent layers might be down there. Overall, it seemed like the snowpack, especially between 5 and 6k', has seen a lot of variable weather and is in a weird spot.
