Overall a big difference from Big Creek yesterday by starting 700' higher. I think this zone also got less moisture than Big Creek, not uncommon. Enough loud collapses to keep me tip-toeing around. I'm traveling as per considerable hazard. I don't think there is enough snow in the start zones of the big paths above the road to cause concern at this time, they look a bit scoured. Cracking was limited to the upper 4" and settlements around trees. Large "booming" collapses on NE aspects of off the ridge tops, above 8,000', impressive and enough to make me alter my route onto lower angle terrain.

Snowpack

100cm at 8,100 in sheltered areas off of the ridge. Upper 4" is semi-supportable crust from yesterday's warming, dry. Mmost areas have surface hoar. Wind exposed areas on the ridge are fully supportable, also covered in facets, see photo below. One quick pit, HS-100 cm. Two major rain crusts separated by medium density snow. ECTP6, Q1+, failed on facets below lower crust at 45 cm depth. After the tests, a hand shear moved he block very easy. With the exception of damp basal facets, the entire column was dry.
