Quick report
Traveled to 5200’ on Cave Ridge today via Commonwealth Basin. Light snowfall throughout the day with calm to light winds. 8-10” of new snow on top of the old snow surface, which ranged from a light crust to nearly undetectable depending on aspect and shelter from sun/wind. The new snow is currently non-cohesive, but we were able to entrain modest amounts of snow on steep rollers, breaking on the old/new interface, especially in more open areas with the light sun crust. The bed is there, so any amount of rain/wind/sun to bond the new snow could produce more notable results. Skiing was excellent.
