Quick report
I snowshowed the NW Ridge of Ruby on the 27th and 28th. Consistent snow above 4000'. The pre-existing snow was pretty wet and loose, though not unstable. The morning of the 28th added 4-6 inches of reasonably dry snow at upper elevations but the underlying wet snow did not freeze. Snow was overall stable on the ridge, though not the most pleasant to travel on. Cornices on the summit ridge were well developed and motivated one to give them a wide berth. Snow at middle elevations was quickly loosening in the afternoon but couldn't yet sustain pinwheels.
Avalanche
Ruby's W basin draining to Horsetail Creek had debris and at least two crowns presumably from the wet avalanche cycle at the beginning of the week. One of them looked like it could have been triggered by cornice fall. Additionally, the upper Colonial Creek drainage showed many crowns and/or glide cracks (hard to tell at the distance).
