Quick report

Aspect
Southeast
Elevation
1951 m
Slope Angle
37°

We found mostly stable snow and nice, fast, shallow powder conditions at lower elevations. It was best on lower angle slopes, but we felt comfortable on steeper slopes below about 7000' also today.

We found stable and supportable underlying snow and mostly Low danger at lower elevations. The exceptions were a couple small soft drifts we unintentionally triggered near the ridge line.

Snowpack

Instability Comment

We triggered a couple very small soft wind slabs on the lee side of the ridge that broke apart before gaining momentum.

No problem down low right now since a solid melt/freeze crust appears to be bridging moist, sugary faceted snow at the bottom of the snowpack.

Nice fast shallow powder skiing on a solid, supportable, rain-saturated and then refrozen, base.
