Quick report
I toured up Tobacco Flat today. On a NW aspect NTL at around 10,300', I observed some intermittent surface hoar. The trees were rimed. I believe there was a recent avalanche below the rock face of White Fang, but I didn't get a good look. SQ is fine, but the recent snow has covered some sharks that are lurking right beneath the surface. I did see a track from a solo skier who center-punched one of the main NE avy paths on Mono Jim. Bold. The attached avy observation from the Fingers is from my drive home.
Avalanche
One of the Fingers slid. Viewing it through my binos, I could not determine the trigger. However, there was a snomo track that went to near the base of the debris and came back out the same way. This is not apparent in my picture, but the slide appears to be a wind slab that stepped down to a deeper layer within approx 50' after starting. Additionally, as is seen in my pic, the crown got bigger down below the rock buttress, possibly because that area is more conducive to loading.
