Quick report

Snow surfaces are growing weaker and slabs are decaying, which is improving stability on suspect slopes that held old snow here.  In relatively wind-protected terrain near treeline, we felt comfortable skiing a steep northeast terrain feature despite buried depth hoar about a foot deep. The snowpack lacked cohesion, produced stable test results, and had no red flags underfoot.

Snowpack

Very thin - feels like October.  Surface hoar on the north half of the compass, with some areas holding 3-5mm grains, others 1-2mm grains.  Last week's storm snow is faceting and losing cohesion now N/BTL. Although we didn't travel anywhere with significant previous wind drifting, we didn't find any terrain features holding slabby snow. We found only soft and faceting snow with no cracking or collapsing.  An ECT showed non-propagating results on buried depth hoar 35 cm deep.
