The top pocket of Electric Lake Bowl avalanched naturally overnight of 1/9 to 1/10. We did not get a close look, but the crown ran across the pocket onto the adjacent north facing slope.
The overnight snow had a dense layer of graupel at the top of the pack. The new snow was close to a foot deep and it is sitting on less dense snow. Wind driven snow was found areas exposed to the west winds.
Our best guess... The avalanche slab initiated with a wind loaded pocket possibly on top of the graupel.
