Light E winds visible in the tops of the trees, not felt at ground level below treeline.
Snowpack
We traveled the Mt. Lola area today with the goal of digging two snowpits on opposite sides of the NE ridge of Lola near 8,000'. We targeted the Jan 1 rain crust and any weak snow adjacent to it. In both pits there were some (barely) faceted crystals above and below the rain crust that were nearly fully transitioned to rounds. No problematic weakness on this layer was observed in our two pits. There is still some moist to wet snow low in the snowpack that is in the process of refreezing following the rain events leading up to Jan 1. We noted a thin layer of near surface facets and relatively easy travel conditions.
