Second day of a SAC motorized avalanche course with travel in terrain a few miles west of the Mt. Lola area observed the previous day. Weather and snow conditions showed no meaningful change from Jan 20. Cloud cover persisted, winds were calm to absent, and temperatures remained steady. Snow surface conditions varied by aspect, with firmer melt-freeze surfaces on sun-exposed terrain and softer surface snow in shaded, sheltered northerly aspects. No signs of instability were observed during travel. A snowpit was dug northwest of Lacey Peak on a north aspect at approximately 7,700 ft. The snowpack was generally consolidated at this location. Multiple stability tests were performed with no significant failures or layers of concern identified.
