Coverage on south faces is rapidly deteriorating even above 9,000 ft. What was easily skin-able a week ago is visibly less covered. Wind affected snow existed on most open northerly aspects. I was surprised at how shallow the snowpack was on the north side of Mt. Houghton, even at 9,300 ft in a sheltered North aspect the snowpack was 50-65 cm deep. There were some small facets in the snowpack but did not observe any preserved surface hoar at any point during the tour.
