We observed several wet loose avalanches and two very large cornice failures that likely occurred on Wednesday. It was another warm day with calm winds down low and moderate winds up high.

There was an inversion throughout the day, with temperatures ranging from 5 (valley bottom, AM) to 35 F (middle elevations, PM). Skies were clear, and winds were calm down low, but we could see blowing snow along ridge tops.
Snowpack
WNW @ 7000': HS = 100 cm. The 1/1 melt-freeze crust ↓40cm was 5cm thick. We observed large surface hoar and significant near-surface facetting at this location and in most drainage bottom locations. This was less pronounced as we climbed out of lower-lying areas.

We observed multiple wet loose avalanches in steep rocky terrain. Most are assumed to have released on Wednesday and were mostly D1-1.5. We observed two very large cornice failures. One of them triggered a slab on the slope below.
