Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Very limited signs of instability. I was able to kick off one little cornice which broke beyond my skis and down to the crust layer beneath this weekends storm, maybe 8-10”. There was a serious inversion. At about 10am it felt frigid in the parking lot and there was pretty good surface hoar on surfaces around the trailhead. Just a few hundred feet higher temperatures rose dramatically. Around 2pm, temps at 5300’ were 40F and 29F at 4000’. Obviously, anything remotely south facing was super gloppy and wet. We saw numerous rollerballs across the valley on solar aspects on Lichtenberg. We skied north face around noon and the snow was surprisingly cold and soft.
Avalanche
Small, D1 avalanche on Tye peaks east face, which I believe was triggered on Saturday.
