Just below 5000’ the snow changes. There is more volume atop the melt freeze crust on south facing slopes and wind transport is more evident. Below 4800’ the snowpack was notably more impacted by warmer temps and wetter precipitation.

Avalanche

Soft slab, unintentional skier trigger, R4-D1, SSW at 4900’, it ran on top of the MFcr beneath F hard storm snow with 2-4cm of F+ wind deposited snow on the surface. Crown varied in depth from 1cm-30cm in places and ~80’ wide. Skier triggered from 30’ below.
