Quick report

Well, it's January and you might feel that in the air but you wouldn't know it from what people are skiing. Cheekiness aside, the snowpack is pretty darn locked right now and steeps are skiing well. Party of 2 ascended CJ Couloir using the climber's right ramp. Two tools were required, as well as two downclimbs. Steep north facing couloirs in the alpine are holding good chalk and where coverage allows there is good steep skiing. Nope.

Snowpack

Snowpack is quite springlike. Sheltered norths above 5000' are holding good chalk. In open areas northern aspects have plenty of wind effect. In general, surfaces are a spectrum from hard to firm to chalky. Souths don't seem to be corn yet...too cold. High solar aspects still have a breakable crust to them.
