Quick report

Cracking
specific

There was a bad rain crust up to about 6500'. Above, there was a light sun crust, becoming less noticeable at higher elevations. Wind scoured sections were packed powder with sugar. Many old roller balls at elevations under 6000' from Friday. There were several slab avalanches set off just above where we camped at 6700'. It seems they may have been set off by the party's track we followed up to camp. No tracks or avy debris on the Squak, Roman Wall, or summit. Ice fall was a minor problem on the Roman Wall. We observed no collapsing on the ski down, only shallow cracking on wind affected sections.

Avalanche

Several old D1-2 slab avalanches above our camp at 6700'.
