Quick report
Traveled to around 7,700 feet to look for the Valentine's Buried Surface Hoar Layer. Unfortunately, it was observed on both the North Aspect and the Southwest Aspect, around 7,500-7,700 feet, in both locations where I dug. We traveled and observed terrain on all aspects around Burger Butte and did not observe any other signs of instability.

Skies were at times obscured by fog, clouds, and the occasional sun pop.
Snowpack
Dug on a North Aspect at 7,720 feet and found 200cm or around 6 feet of snow. The Valentines Buried Surface Hoar was reactive in a Compression Test (CT28SuddenPlanar) down to 86cm (3 feet).
I also dug on a SW aspect at 7,500', where the snow was much shallower (3 feet), and found the same surface hoar layer down 45cm or (2.5 feet). It was even more reactive: Compression Test 15, Sudden Collapse, and Extended Column Test, Full Propagation on the 19th hit.
