Quick report

I did not travel along upper elevation ridgelines, but moderate winds were seen at the top of chairlifts at Lost Trail resort. New snow was dense and small amounts were available for transport. The big question moving forward is regarding the lingering persistent slab problem and if it is specific to sheltered terrain and mid elevation terrain or if it extends into more ridgetop terrain.

No signs of instability observed, but poor snowpack structure observed.

Snowpack

Today I re visited an area where I dug a few pits in late January ahead of the February storm.  I found a layer of buried surface hoar 3 feet below the surface. In tests, it was stubborn but fully propagated on the 24th and 25th tap. There were ski tracks on the slope with no avalanches triggered.
