Quick report

Lots of wind scoured snow and wind crusts. Snow was very variable with sections of crusts and powder. We saw a lot of surface hoar in the morning and it persisted on untracked snow into the afternoon.

Snowpack

Compression test on fourth crossing heading up to Mazama ridge. We found two deep crusts and the one above had a sudden planar break at 28 taps. The lower crust also had a clean planar break with a shovel shear.

Avalanche

Size
D2.5
Aspect
SW
Elevation
5600 ft

We observed a large avalanche crown with multiple layers (or a secondary avalanche?) across from the mazama bowl on a southwest aspect slope. Unsure of when it was triggered.
