Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Today really felt like spring had sprung! We experienced multiple rounds of light to moderate snow squalls with gusty NW winds and mostly cloudy skies throughout our tour. 2” of new snow below 8k’ with 4-6” of fresh snow above. A stout crust sits below the new snow and thins to a razor crust at around 9k’. We noticed very localized cracking (~2’) on a couple of skin track kick turns in the most wind-loaded pockets along the ridgeline and no other obvious signs of instability. The snow surface took heat quickly during brief clearings and was getting a wee bit schmooey by 215pm.
