Around 5500’ on a N aspect we found 120 cm of snow. The Solstice crust is about 70 cm down and still bonded well to the snow above. A quick hand pit produced a moderate to hard shear ~20 cm above the Solstice Crust, likely on the 12/22 interface. The snowpack is cold, faceting, and highly spatially variable. There was very isolated cracking from wind loading in the alpine. Other than that, watch out for the travel below 4400’. The 12/28 warm up crust is western as.
Avalanche
Lake Run had clear evidence of recent avalanche activity. It likely ran during the 12/28 warm up cycle based on the appearance of the debris and the partially filled in crown lines.
