Quick report
we went up to the floor of tuckerman ravine today at 1430 to check out damage done after the recent rain storm and 48 plus hours of above freezing temps at ravine level. what we found was a spring looking snowpack. little head wall was raging water with multiple sections of exposed rock and trail above hermit lake on the TRT. upon reaching connection cache we were greeted with a brief mix of ice pellets and rain before the storm finally moved out. The lip and areas of the head wall appeared to be very undermined with exposed waterfall and rock present. With slopes very much still connected at both tuckerman ravine (left, chute, right) and boott spur (hillmans, dodges) i’m thinking there is a chance things could slide further then what we’ve seen so far this season. we are heading into a similar set up, a moistened melted snowpack with temps forecasted to drop into the mid to low 20s. this means a rain/ melt-freeze crust is most likely going to form, providing a slick surface for the forecasted foot of snow that is incoming NYE and day.
