Quick report

Took advantage of today's improved lighting to look for more recent avalanches:

  • Runnels on all aspects up to roughly 8000' indicates recent rain reached this elevation.
  • D2-D3.5 natural slab avalanche on all aspects up between 7000' and 8000'.
  • Slabs failed at varying depths, possibly on early March crusts. Slabs failing on NW aspects appeared deeper and possibly failed on buried weak layers.
  •  It appears most if not all slab avalanches ran on 3/24 or early 3/25. (Based on review of photos taken 3/25).
  • Today's avalanche activity was limited to small loose wet. (Based on comparing morning and afternoon observations).
  • Avalanches were larger south of Holland Lake.

D2-D3.5 slab avalanche likely occured 3/24.
