Two sledders were riding in Blue Slide. They were purposely avoiding the steep slope that slid. One rider was climbing a lower angle adjacent slope when his engine bogged forcing him to turn downhill. This pushed his trajectory towards the bottom of the steep avalanche path and the avalanche released above him. He grabbed some throttle and outran the avalanche which did cover part of his track.
