Quick report
As we ascended the couloir, we pole probed the snowpack multiple times. Nearing 9300’ there was a noticeable change in the layering. With a small hand dug hole we identified a noticeable weak layer about 7.5cm down. It seemed like the high winds have created a densely packed wind slab that is larger at higher elevations/near crests. Although it did not rain on us, it tried to mist for about 20 minutes, it seemed to be more rainy towards mt excelsior. We opted to turn around.

There was signs of an older avalanche that originated higher in the couloir and had a sizable runout. it seemed to be naturally likely from the 12/24 storm.
