Avalanches observed were a result of warmer days baking the W-SW aspects. Along route of travel, snowpack highly variable from sun crust to powder pockets and wind slabs. Dynamic! Keeping the inconsistencies in mind as we get more snow will be important! Snow travel was really dynamic, with south facing aspects along my approach either completely baked out by the sun or experiencing loose wet slides. Center lines of gullies traversed had a mix of sun crust (s-sw aspects) and wind packed drier snow (n, e aspects). Ridges also mixed with hard pack crust and wind-blown powder pockets.
