Quick report
We rode out of the Moccasin Basin trailhead into the North Fork of Fish Creek today. Sunny skies and light winds for the majority of the day with high clouds developing in the afternoon. Temps were comfortable starting in the upper 20's and rising to the upper 30's by 3:00 pm. Snow surfaces consisted of cold settled powder at the higher elevations with sun affected snow becoming more common as we dropped in elevation. We observed several natural avalanches (D1-D2) and one snowmobile triggered avalanche (D1) during our travels today. All were adjacent to the T snowmobile trail on small, but steep terrain features. Elevations ranged from 7900-8200 feet. The natural slides were on northwest aspects, while the snowmobile triggered slide was on a wind loaded east aspect. Several of the natural slides ran through trees and had fairly large debris piles.
