Quick report

Suspected reactive windslab due to wind and precipitation mid day (as mentioned in forecast). Attempted to limit exposure by avoiding steep deposit zones and conducting hand pit assessments that supported our choices. This windslab avalanche happened mid-slope as a result of spindrift around a rock outcropping thought to be an ‘island of safety’ skiers right and beneath the main chute… and surprised us all. D1R1.5 with a crown 4-12” and 30’ across. No one was caught or carried.
