Quick report
Skied the dogleg on Maggie’s at about 1 pm today. Found several inches of faceted surface snow on the upper, NE facing section, and melt-freeze snow on the lower SE facing section. The refreeze was better down low on the apron due to another inversion in place overnight, but we didn’t push any rollerballs or see any signs of wet-loose instability even in steep terrain. The faceted snow on shady aspects was quite cohesionless, and readily created small, inconsequential loose-dry sluffs. Very warm, humid, and overcast throughout our entire tour. We did experience some glopping on the up track as we moved between wet surface snow in sunny areas, and cold faceted snow in shadier areas. On slopes where the melt-freeze crust was still intact, faceted snow sat directly below the crust.
