Quick report

This was a nice off duty walk to take advantage of generally good stability and good skiing on multiple aspects.

I traveled through large amounts of large avalanche terrain and triggered several small avalanches. I did not experience any cracking or collapsing.

Weather

A few bands of high clouds, otherwise just big wide blue sky all day long. Occasional periods of moderate winds, but generally on the calm to light side of things, blowing out of variable directions.

Snowpack

Proto corn on solars, which was just slightly passed ripe when I descended S towards Trail Creek around noon. There is plenty of unshed snow in the mountains, the melt and shedding that we have seen up to this point have been gentle and piecemeal.

On shaded slopes, the bump in wind speeds observed and recorded over the past 12 hours did not produce any significant wind slabs in the terrain I traveled in.

Avalanche

I triggered a D1 dry loose and a D1.5 wet loose (photos in gallery below). I observed a recent (likely that day?) cornice triggered D2 in Basin Gulch.
