Our primary objectives were to visit the skyline profile site and assess new wind slabs.

Cracking on fresh wind slabs formed by E wind in the past 24hrs. Drifted slabs and wind features ranged from reactive to somewhat stubborn to trigger.

A cold, blustery morning turned into a humid afternoon. Light to moderate east winds transported snow in the typical locations, including exposed low-elevation slopes near the pass. Clouds progressed from high overcast to obscured and foggy. A few light flurries fell before noon. After descending to 4,000ft @ 12:45, we observed light rain. We weren't out long enough to assess the rain line or impacts on snow surfaces or stability

Snowpack

Aside from wind slabs, the recent storm snow and interfaces (notably 1/16) were bonding well.

At 5,300ft, ENE profile site, we found a somewhat deeper than average snowpack due to light to moderate wind loading from east wind events over the past month.  Height of snow was 231cm.

Notable layers included;

↓28-30cm- 1/16 interface, F hard, 0.3mm weak grains. CTE PC. Moderate, clean tilt test results.

 ↓75-95cm- A thin P hard crust @ 80cm w thick weak layers on either side comprised of 0.5-1mm rounding facets. CTH RP both above and below the crust

↓141-147cm- 4F+, facets and melt forms, 0.5-1mm, weak layer within the Soltice crust matrix (134-154cm) CTH SP
