Avalanche
Caught the break between storms on Saturday, 1/11 and decided to check out the new snow. Sunset tour up the lower part of Sunburst beginning at 2:30 PM. 12-18" of fresh light snow. Minor signs of instability were noticed above the treeline so our group stuck to lower angle slopes and did not go above 2,200' Large Avalanche observed on the south face of Sunburst. It was difficult to gauge the size of the crown from a distance, but large propagation was apparent. With the recent snowfall, evidence of the slide is likely buried by now.
