Quick report

Alaska Avalanche School Level 1 course. Group 1 reached 1900' at little Japan. Snowpack depth of 150 cm. ECTX, no concerning test results. Surface hoar and moist basal facets present. Group 2 reached 2200' on Fresno. Snowpack depth of 120 cm. ECTX. Buried surface hoar 65 cm down in a 6 cm layer of rounding facets. 2-3 mm surface hoar observed. Group 3 reached 2100' at little Japan. Snowpack depth of 125 cm. ECTN28 40 cm down on facets above an ice crust. Other conditions of note- 6mm surface hoar observed on Colorado. Large glide cracks on the south face of Manitoba and lots of glide cracks on south Wilson ridge. Plentiful sunshine and soft surface conditions below treeline.
