Quick report

Good visiblity along the HWY 2 corridor allowed views into alpine terrain within the Flathead Range. Very large, destructive slab avalanches have naturally released within the last 24 hours.

•One recent D2 windslab on the S chutes of Wolftail Mtn (GNP). (S- 7200')
•Large cornices present along ridgelines from strong W winds
•A very large (D3-D4) recent slab avalanche on the ENE aspect of Nyack Mtn. This slide appeared to release just below ridgeline (~7600') (windslab), step down to deeply buried persistent weak layers, and run ~2500+ vertical feet. Estimated width around 3000ft (over a half mile).
•Older crowns were noted in much of the terrain around Nyack Mtn that likely ran during the storm late last week.
