Broken skies and a balmy 41 F. A definite beat down for the valley floor snowpack last night. The highway was clear and there is grass showing in the ditches and hayfields of Nyack flats.

I was able to use binoculars and see avalanches in every drainage I drove past. All but a few were below 6500'. They appeared to be roughly 18-24" deep, on E, S and NE aspects, and ran nearly their full path. These were all crisp and I presume they ran sometime very early in the morning to mid morning when the precip had stopped. There were 2 older crowns that I could barely make out around 7,000' that looked to be much deeper and had been mostly filled in by wind transported snow. I would guess these happened earlier in the storm and were much thicker wind slabs.
