I hiked with spikes to Dog Lake Friday. The snow surface was mix of hard sun/heat blasted mess to a bit mushy. All in all, new snow was desperately needed. I spoke with two skiers who had "come up to see what the conditions were." They were both super disappointed as it was an icy to heat crusted mess.
As I hiked back down to the TH the snow increased in intensity. In fact, a slide off closed the canyon for a couple of hours.
