Quick report
We went to Chinook Pass to ski Sheep Lake Couloir. We pivoted due to the lack of snow coverage on Chinook Peak and its parking area (see photos). We ended up skiing both the north face of Naches Peak and the north chute on Yakima Peak, AKA "Paul's". On Naches, as we approached our transition point just below the summit, snow became noticeably more penetrable, making booting quite challenging. My interpretation is that the new snow a few days prior, being on a high-ish-elevation, steep, N-facing slope, hadn't had a chance to really consolidate like other snow in the area. There will be enough snow coverage right at pass level for enjoyable turns for at least a couple weeks.
Avalanche
Trees on the north face of Naches Peak naturally triggered 2 or 3 small, slow-moving wet loose slides as we booted up the face at about 10AM. They were well below a D1 in size. The triggers were not from snow shedding off tree branches that we could tell, but instead were related to snow multing around the tree trunks.
