Quick report

Cracking
isolated

We observed intense wind transport at upper elevations from gale force SW winds. Swirling winds led to wind transported snow on a variety of aspects and elevations. Ski kicks on wind slab at 9600' did not produce any instability, however, we found a small wind slab in relatively protected terrain down lower. We had excellent visibility and did not observe any natural avalanches in surrounding terrain on Tamarack/Houghton. Despite snow surfaces in the areas we travelled being effected by the wind. ski quality was quite good. Wind effected surfaces did not produce any dry loose activity. Triggered a small hard slab wind slab on a small NE test slope @9100' (see photo)

Snowpack

We dug a quick test pit in flat terrain @8800'. We had several failures in CT tests on density changes withing the recent storm snow, however these all produced ECTN results. Approx 70 cms of new snow in this area, on top of firm crust from 2/2 rain.
