Strong sun above the inversion layer with patchy fog found around 9,000'
Snowpack
Snow surface was wet below about 8,500' by mid day. The snow surface remained dry at higher elevation throughout the afternoon and a thin unsupportable sun crust was found on all aspect other than N. A test pit dug on a NE aspect at 10,081' yielded ECTX results but did show a CT result on top of the early January weak layer.
Avalanche
SS-N-R2-D1-I observed on a west aspect at 9,700'. Trigger point appeared to be in a thin area of the snowpack on a rock band in this piece of terrain. Crown ranged from 8"-14" and only involve the new snow which has fallen after the early January storm cycle.
