Twin Lakes

Today I toured the Twin Lakes Basin looking for signs of any avalanche activity from the most recent rain event. I was able to get visuals on all elevations before the clouds moved into the region in the afternoon.  Small Loose wet avalanches were visible from the road in many avalanche paths, including what appeared to be cornice failures in some locations. 

From across the valley, I was able to see a large debris pile on a south aspect between the upper and lower lakes. I  got in close for a better look at the debris pile to see a large deposit from a wet avalanche that ran during last weekend's rain event.  A crown line was not visible from my vantage point, it appeared to originate in two separate gullies and flowed into the main gully leaving 6-15ft piles of debris. The avalanche track took a hard turn to the east as it exited the gully and ran into low-angle terrain.  Inside the avalanche track, you can see smooth walls gauged out by the heavy wet debris flow as well as mature trees uprooted.
