Toured up towards Pinnacle and Fairangel to check out that valley. We experienced a few collapses on our way up the initial ridge, ranging 10 to ~20+ft in width with cracks noted but no propagation on a lowish angle slope (~25-30deg). Unsure which layer collapsed, but assuming it was the layer facets at the base of the snowpack. Shooting cracks from the skies occasionally occurred, but appeared to be restricted to the surface crust. On north facing slopes that we skied, no instabilities were noted. Ski cuts and a small cornice drop produced no results, and hand pits only showed reaction at the surface crust.
