Snowpack

In a sheltered area, we observed 15-20 cm of new snow sitting on top of a 10cm rain crust. In open areas, the surface snow was wind effected, with snow drift depths of 10-80cm. In hand shear tests on these wind drifts, soft slabs broke at 10-25 cm. Total snow depth was about 270 cm on an E aspect at 7800'.
