- Poor Snowpack Structure
As we were informed by Greg Gagne when we crossed paths with him on the ridge line before dropping into Days Fork via Hideaway Park, the main chutes had slid back in December exposing rocks. Wishing he was a bit more explicit and that we read between the lines. That said, our party of three entered and found all main chutes un-skiable. We inched our way down avoiding visible rocks while exposing others... sometimes to the detriment of our p-tex and edges. No injuries, just acknowledging our bad decision and reporting so others may avoid Hideaway Park at least until significant new snow arrives and avalanche conditions stabalize.
