Large natural avalanches occurred at different times in January. From Hwy 89 in Logan Canyon on 1-18-24, we noticed a large crown in Central Wood Camp. https://utahavalanchecenter.org/avalanche/82440
It appears as though more avalanches have occurred since, the most recent, likely during the rapid warming event last Sunday, 1-28-24. The first avalanches ran farther than the more recent ones which were deeper. They ran quite a ways into the flats but nowhere near as far as avalanches have run in past years. These big avalanches are good examples of what we're talking about when we mention large, long-running, and destructive natural avalanches.
