Peak 4

I toured up peak 4 gully from the Rabbit Creek Trail. There were no other skin tracks in the gully. At approximately 3000' of elevation, there was a moderate-sized avalanche that had originated from the right side of the gully (west aspect). The crown of the avalanche was approximately 3 feet tall. This appeared to be a heavily wind loaded section of the gulley that failed on a week layer. The avalanche was approximately 100 feet wide (essentially the entire width of the skiable portion of the gully) and ran for about 400 feet. The avalanche was relatively fresh and likely occurred during the most recent wind event on Saturday, January 10th. I skinned around the avalanche on the north (left) side of the gulley. Above the avalanche crown I encountered plentiful whumpfing. Given the red flags I abandoned this section of the tour. I neglected to take any photos. I was touring in the dark under headlamp. I would probably give this route at least several days to a week to settle before re-attempting (assuming no further snow or wind events).
