There was about 10 inches of new snow at the road. Cracking around the skis while trail breaking was common. Below treeline I experienced a whumph that knocked snow off an alder tree 50 feet away but that seemed to be localized, no other collapses were experienced during the tour. It’s worth noting the weakness of the lower snowpack can be felt if you step off the skin track, or off your skis as you sink to the ground. I dug a pit at 2000 ft on an SE facing slope, and found 10 inches of new storm snow. I got an ECTP6 on the facets below the first crust, about 45 cm (~1.25ft) down.
