Quick report
We travelled the Devil Creek trail and toured a ridgeline in the Devils Hump vicinity, skied a NE aspect, and returned back to TRHD via trail. •Light to moderate SW winds were transporting minimal amounts of snow in the alpine (flagging on surrounding higher peaks was not observed) •Stiff, older windslab existed on ridgeline but was unreactive and not cracking underfoot •Windward slopes were wind-scrubbed and thin, in one location on a S aspect (~7000') the snowpack was entirely faceted and weak •Besides a few wet loose avalanches on solar prone aspects, no other activity was observed •We skied a NE aspect (7400') in a wind prone basin with a mix of soft sastrugi and hard, albeit thin windslab that made conditions challenging. Good powder turns were found lower in sheltered locations •Experienced glopping on the exit while skiing through a sunny meadow around 5500' •Overall, a great tour with ample sunshine and views of the surrounding mountain ranges Although solar input was heavy yesterday, below freezing temps at elevation prevented a large wet, loose cycle
