Quick report

Cracking
specific

overall impression of stability: mostly right side up snow with pockets of wind slab visible on all aspects at multiple elevations. Snow depth is variable, deeper pockets of storm snow on E, SE aspects, more exposed terrain features and wind scouring on SW aspects. Skied excellent on E/SE aspects of Herman. Small, shallow cracks were observed in wind loaded pockets at times. Traveled with cautious, "limit exposure" mindset. Visibility was slightly worse than expected throughout the day, though improved as we were driving home later in the afternoon. Wind was as expected, general trend improving over the course of the day. New snowfall during the early afternoon contributed to lower visibility conditions.

Avalanche

one small skier triggered avalanche, D1, in lower elevation on the approach to Mt Herman. NNW facing aspect on steep convex rollover. Storm/wind slab. Triggered on ski cut, no one caught. Also observed shallow natural D1 avalanche on SE aspect of Herman
