Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Toured up to source lake area in the afternoon, up to about 4300’. Still tons of deep tree wells, open creeks etc to contend with on the approach/deproach. Visibility deteriorated greatly by ~2pm and we were skiing in an almost complete whiteout with very occasional sun breaks. At source lake (~3800’ in a flatish open area), we found around 2ft of new snow, mostly right side up ranging from F to 1F above the recent rain crusts. No wind effect observed here. Performed an ECT with no propagation results, but with a shovel I was able to shear off somewhat cohesive slabs from the -2ft crust in an isolated column. We skied down low 30 deg slopes with no signs of instabilities.
