Quick report

We found the PWL at 82 cm from the snow surface. Several cornice fall events had recently happened on the same slope as our pit - none of the stepped down to this layer. Another group had skied the slope before we arrived. Although hard to trigger due to the depth, this layer did show likely propagation if triggered.

Snowpack

We observed an 8cm layer of loose sugary facets 82cm from the snowpack surface. This faceted layer is in between two ice crusts. We observed full propagation to the end (in aforementioned layer) at PST at 30 cm. 2-3 mm surface hoar observed on E, NE,N,NW and W aspects.

Avalanche

Avalanche debris visible on an adjoining ridge - natural cornice fall trigger likely D2.
